Water plant hygrophil came to us from Germany, where it was called "Indian water star", perfectly acclimatized in an aquarium with a water temperature of 20-28 degrees, clears it of nitrates and other harmful elements.
The most common species
Aquarium plant hygrophil has more than a hundred species, the most famous and common of which are:
- hygrophilic patterned or marble, being an ornamental plant, has contrasting, openwork veins of different colors on oval, brownish-red leaves.
- Hygrophilus red is suitable for keeping in small-sized containers, needs bright lighting, grows picturesque thickets, it is best to plant it in the background.
- hygrophil and ivolistnaya - this aquarium plant reaches a height of 35-45 cm, has leaves in the form of a narrow plate, reaching a length of up to 15 cm and a width of up to 0.8 cm. The edges of the leaves are slightly dentate, in the surface part small, white flowers.
- hygrophil variegated (or demorphous), its leaves, depending on the illumination, can change form from oval to large-cut, can be stretched up and placed in pairs.
- hygrophila Schizandra is great for decorative aquariums, forming thickets of light green color that can reach the water's edge. The leaves have an elongated shape, they reach a length of 12 cm, their width can be up to 4 cm.
Care and maintenance of hygrophilic aquarium
Hygrophila refers to unpretentious plants, its content is simple, the main thing is to provide a favorable environment for it and then it will be lush, bright, will grow large, spectacular shrubs, decorating the water space. For ideal conditions of aquarium hygrophil growth, warm water is required, the ph level of which will be 6.5-7.5 units.
