Cervical erosion

The diagnosis of cervical erosion (defect of the mucous membrane) is statistically assigned to every second woman of childbearing age. It occurs both in women giving birth, and in not giving birth to women, and even for virgins.

Erosion can be congenital, true and false. True erosion can pass on its own in a few weeks. Congenital erosion usually appears as a result of hormonal disorders, more often in adolescents. Often goes without treatment after a hormonal splash, for example delivery, but still requires the supervision of a doctor. False erosion is the most common and most dangerous variant of the disease - it will never pass and can lead to infertility and the acquisition of various infections by a woman.

Causes and signs of erosion

The causes of the appearance of the disease are not fully understood, the most probable are:

Often the disease is painless, and therefore women do not even suspect erosion. The main feature is spotting after sexual intercourse. Also, the presence of erosion can be indicated by abundant whitish discharge, pulling the pains in the lower abdomen, which intensify during menstruation and frequent malfunctions of the menstrual cycle.

Methods for treating cervical erosion

If erosion of the cervix has arisen against the background of infectious diseases, they first cure them, and then proceed to eliminate the disease itself. The method is chosen by the doctor depending on the severity of the disease and whether the woman gave birth or not, as some methods to nulliparous women are contraindicated or not recommended. So diathermic coagulation is used to treat erosion of the cervix only in women giving birth. For nulliparous patients, radio wave surgery or chemical coagulation is recommended. The use of laser therapy and cryotherapy is possible for both groups of women.
