November 4 - Celebration of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God

About this famous icon heard even people far from Orthodoxy. This shrine gained immense popularity in 1612 during the Troubles and War of the Russians with the Poles who captured Moscow. Dmitry Pozharsky, who headed the militia, transported this shrine from distant Kazan, rightly believing that his army needs the spiritual support of the Blessed Virgin. After three days of prayers, the people knocked out the invaders from the Kremlin and liberated the capital.

To the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God we also turned to times closer to us. Preparing for the Battle of Poltava, Peter I prayed before her, hoping for the help of a great intercessor. Glorious for his military achievements, Mikhail Kutuzov also visited the Kazan Cathedral during the Napoleonic invasion. His family claimed that the field marshal did not part with a breastplate medal, which depicts the image of the Kazan Mother.

November 6 - the celebration of the icon of the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow"

The first miracles from this icon occurred in 1648, when she helped to heal a sick woman Euphemia, the sister of a patriarch, dying from a terrible wound in her side. The voice that sounded in a dream gave her the farewell to ask for help in the image of "Joy of All Who Sorrow". After the prayer with the water consecration, the Blessed Virgin gave Euphemia a cure. Later, many sufferers also talked about miracles and healings that were committed near this icon.

November 7 - Dimitrievskaya parental Saturday

Describing church holidays in November, you just can not ignore the parental Saturday. This day was chosen for the commemoration of all the dead by Dimitry Donskoy. The prince in the year 1380 established every year to hold prayers in memory of the warriors "belly put" for the Fatherland and the Orthodox faith. Later, Dimitri's parental Saturday was a memorial day for all the deceased lay faithful of the Orthodox faith.

November 8 - The Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessalonica

Being a commander and son of the Consul himself, Demetrius accepted the faith and became a preacher. Considering this a betrayal, the Romans killed him, and the mortal remains of the Great Martyr were given to be torn to predators. The imperishable relics were glorified by the Lord and began to exude the world, and miracles began to take place at the place of their storage. On the icons Dimitry of Thessalonica is always depicted with a weapon, he, like St. George, wears a sword and a spear, being the patron of warriors-defenders of the Fatherland.

November 21 - Cathedral of the Archangel Michael and other Celestial Bodiless Forces

The Orthodox consider Mikhail the leader of the heavenly host and believe in his help from the intrigues of evil spirits. In addition, this archangel was always among the patrons of the soldiers who fought against the invasion of foreigners. Archangel Michael on the icons holds a spear, trampling down the fallen Devil.

November 27 - Apostle Philip

Philip is one of the disciples of Christ, he was a good scholar of the Scriptures and himself was expecting the appearance of the Messiah. At the first call, the apostle appeared without hesitation to the Savior. After the Ascension, he did not quit preaching the Word of God, traveling with Hellas, Galilee, Syria and other countries. In the city of Hierapolis of Phrygia, Philip was crucified with the apostle Bartholomew. There was an earthquake and other terrible calamities that ruined the priests and ruler, who forced the people to ask the authorities to remove the executed martyrs. Bartholomew was saved and baptized local residents on his release, but Philip died on the cross. Those who are interested in the great church holidays in November, it must be remembered that it is on November 27th that the Christmas ceremony takes place, which is also called Filippov's post.
