What is interesting for the tourist park Kosterhavet?

Kosterhavet became a nature protection zone relatively recently - in September 2009 it is located on the island of Koster, including both its coast and the water area. The park has a total area of ​​38 878 hectares. What is characteristic, the island itself is declared as one of the sunniest places in Sweden, so the flow of tourists is almost constant. Nevertheless, here it was possible to save a unique natural environment, characteristic only for this country.

Among the inhabitants of Kosterhavet - more than 6 thousand marine species of representatives of flora and fauna. About 200 of them - endemic, are inherent only in the natural environment of the island of Coster. The main pride of the park is the cold-water coral reef. In addition, this area is rich in Norwegian shrimps, oysters and lobsters, than are skillfully used by local fishermen. Cod, sea trout and flounder are also not deprived of the attention of coastal fishermen.

There are a lot of rare birds in the park. Among them - Arctic terns and skuas. The most prominent representatives of mammals are seals.

A small part of the water area of ​​Kosterhavet is the waters of the Kosterfjord fjord, whose depth reaches 200 m, and the average temperature is from -5 ° C to + 7 ° C.

Tourist infrastructure

The resident population of the island does not exceed 400 people. But thanks to the high popularity of this area among tourists there is where to have a bite, or even stay overnight. On the island of Bonfire there is even a museum and a huge aquarium with the most common inhabitants of the park.
