Sports teips

Sports typing is a very effective method of reducing injuries to muscles and joints . It can be used for rehabilitation after injuries. Many athletes began to apply sports plasters for muscles - teips before the competition, in order to reduce the risk of injury.

Why do I need a sports teip?

The sports teip is a sticky tape. It looks a bit like an adhesive plaster. But unlike him, teip has completely different properties and is endowed with a different purpose. These patches are used to fix and support joints. They prevent injuries and help the body recover quickly.

Be aware that if improperly applied, the teips may cause discomfort during training and even cause injury. The simplest tipping can be done independently (ankles, wrists).

Kinds of sports teips

  1. Inelastic teip . This option is classic. In most cases, it is white or cream colored. These teips are used for the ankles and wrists. Also, they can be used as parts for more sophisticated teaping techniques.
  2. Elastic teip . From the title it is clear that unlike the previous version, it is endowed with elasticity, which allows to increase the degree of fixation and increase the coverage area.
  3. Kinesio teip . Designed for specific parts of the body and is endowed with a special shape. Sports kinesio teips are the most popular, because they require less skill in the technique of taping. In addition, they perform their function perfectly.

Rules for sticking teips

Before proceeding with gluing, it is important to make sure that the skin area on which the sports teip will be glued is clean and dry. After this, it is necessary to cut off the patch of the required length and shape, and then remove the protective film.

To make the tape better fixed, it is recommended to round the edges of the tape. It is important to remember that the first and last 5 cm are applied to the skin without stretching.

Next, you need to stretch the skin a little and paste the kinesiothep along the entire length. If the area can not be stretched due to injury, to support ligaments and joints, the teip is fixed with a slight stretching (no more than 50%). After gluing, it is necessary to grind the surface of the body well to activate the undulating adhesive layer.

Correctly glued teip can be worn for 3-5 days. All this time the tape will have a therapeutic effect. Remove teips with scissors. Often in the set with teips sold special liquid to dissolve the glue.

How to paste teip on the knee?

Considering in more detail the question of how to paste teip on the knee, you should resort to step-by-step instructions. This requires two pieces of kinesio teip length from 15 to 20 cm.

It is necessary to bend the leg at an angle of 90 °.

Start teip without tension, it is necessary to paste under the knee cap. Then it is applied with a tension of 20%, circling the knee cup on the side. Its end without tension is glued over the patella. The second adhesive patch is similar on the other side.

To strengthen the fixation, a length of a kinesiotype with a length of 12 to 17 cm is required. It is necessary to tear the paper substrate in the middle and apply a tee cap to the kneecap with maximum tension. The ends of the teip should be held by the paper and without tension glued them from the outer and inner sides of the thigh.

In gluing sports teips, there is nothing difficult. Nevertheless, before gluing, it is recommended to consult with a specialist who is familiar with the basics of anatomy and the structure of the musculoskeletal system. Otherwise, there is a risk of improper application of the teip, which can lead to adverse consequences.
