A true story of love and faithfulness of Peter and Fevronia

No city in the world can boast as many saints as Moore. But even against this background, the Day of Peter and Fevronia stands out with an unusual history of the holiday. At the beginning of the 13th century, in the reign of Prince Peter, a snake appeared in Murom, who threw a cry to the townspeople to go out with him to fight. Prince Peter, holding the sword, received from Archangel Michael, accepted the challenge. In a difficult battle, the evil was defeated, but the prince was wounded by the picketed sword, and his body was covered with sores.

The rumors circulating about Fevronia's medicinal abilities reached Murom. The prince turned for help to a girl from the village of Laskovo, she accepted him in exchange for a promise to marry her. She ordered Fevronia to moisten the entire body of the prince with healing potions, with the exception of one wound. The illness passed, and the prince wanted to break his word, he decided to pay off with gold and silver. But she refused to take Fevronia's gifts, returned them back.

Over time, the illness returned to the prince, and he saw a dream in his dream. The angel reminded him of his deed, about the fact that he had offended Fevronia. The prince confessed and went to the village, where his maiden forgave and healed. The prince married the wedding, and they have healed in peace and harmony. But they did not accept the boyars a simple peasant woman, they decided to expel her. Fevronia left and took Prince Peter with her, and in the meantime internecine strife, illness and hunger began. They did not withstand the boyars' tests and asked Peter to return. Long they ruled, they raised children, and years later Peter took the monastic vows and went to the monastery under the name of David. Fevronia took monasticism under the name of Efrosinya. By agreement, they died on the same day and hour.
