Dobris Castle

History of the castle

The first mention of Dobris refers to the beginning of the XVII century. In the 1930s, the representative of the noble Austrian family, Count Bruno Mansfeld, decided to acquire the castle as a property. In the 18th century, Dobris under the leadership of the Frenchman Jules Robert de Cotte Jr. was rebuilt into a luxurious Rococo palace. The name Dobris, according to one of the legends, the castle received on behalf of the founder of the city.

For all of its existence, the castle has been replaced by many owners. Before the Second World War, Dobris belonged to the genus Colloredo-Mansfeld. In 1942, it was occupied by fascists, and after 3 years - nationalized and turned into a writer's house. Only in 1998, Dobris was returned to the descendants of the genus Colloredo-Mansfeld, who still own it.

Nowadays Dobris Castle in Prague is the most popular place in the Czech Republic for weddings and corporate events.

The first thing that catches your eye when you find yourself at the entrance to the castle is a luxurious French garden with a magnificent greenhouse. Cost of visiting the castle

Admission ticket for adult visitors to Dobris Castle costs 130 CZK ($ 6). For children, students, pensioners, preferential tickets are provided, the price of which is 80 kroons ($ 3.7). Special family tickets are also sold (340 CZK or $ 15.7).

Opening hours of the castle

Dobris is open for visits throughout the year. In the warm season (from June to October), it works from 8:00 to 17:30. From November to May, you can get to Dobris from 8:00 to 16:30. The last excursion begins 1 hour before the closure of the castle.

How to get there?

You can reach Dobris Castle by car, public transport or by train. In the first case you have to go through Žitná and Svornosti to go to Strakonická (district Praha 5). Further along the routes 4 and R4 you will need to move towards the road № 11628 (Dobříš), after the congress on it continue the traffic and go towards Pražská road number 114. In 150 m from the castle there is a car parking.

The buses to Dobris are sent from two bus stations in Prague - Na Knižeči (time to the destination of 35 minutes) and Smíchovské nádraží (55 minutes enroute), near which there is the Smíchov railway station.

Finally, you can get to Dobris by train from Prague. From the main station of the Czech capital , trains run several times a day to Dobris. They follow the route for about 2 hours, and the ticket costs 78 CZK ($ 3.6).
