Dunedinsky Chinese Garden

In 2008, New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark officially opened a garden in Dunedin in Chinese style, which was named Lan Yuan. The name was chosen not by chance, it shows friendly relations between the countries, as Lan is the third word in the Chinese translation of New Zealand (Xin XI LAN), and Yuan is part of Mongolia's name in Chinese, as Dunedin is very similar to Shanghai. The garden was created not so much for the diversity of the flora of New Zealand, both to confirm friendly relations with China and respect for its nature.

What to see?

Dunedinsky Park is an amazing place, three Shanghai landscape artists worked on its architecture at once. They were able to fully reflect the traditions of their homeland, while not forgetting the changing weather of New Zealand . This is an amazing solution and makes the park a unique place, as visiting it once means not knowing about the park anything. Depending on the season, the park looks different, this is due to the flowering of seasonal plants. Therefore, having arrived at different times, you may get the impression that you have visited completely different places.

The prototype of Dunedin Park is the most famous Ming dynasty gardens, which, like nothing else, embody the depth of China's history and culture. Therefore, having visited New Zealand, you have the opportunity not only to feel the life of the Maori tribes, but also to penetrate the true culture of the Celestial Empire.

In the garden there is a large lake, near which there are a gazebo, a square pavilion, a house for a tea ceremony, as well as a two-storey building with conference rooms. Through the lake there is a bridge that connects to the central pavilion. Walking near the lake is unforgettable, as next to it grows many amazing plants.
