In Bhutan, just a kilometer from the town of Paro is the Dunze-lakhang monastery. This small but cozy structure is remarkable for storing a large collection of ancient Buddhist icons.
Architectural style of the monastery
During the construction of the Dunze-lakhang monastery, Lama Tangtong, Guillo adhered to the figure of the Buddhist mandala. The temple has three levels, each of which personifies one of the levels of the Buddhist worlds - heaven, earth and hell. To move from one level to another, you have to overcome many steps. The decoration of the temple is a tall white tower.
The interior of the temple of Dunze-lakhang in Bhutan is decorated in the style of Buddhist monasteries . Thanks to the availability of valuable unique paintings and icons, many Buddhist followers consider this temple a place of strength. Here they conduct their spiritual practices and clean energy.
Each level and even the sides of the Dunze-lakhanga monastery are decorated in a certain style:
- on the first floor is located Mahakala (defender of Buddhist teachings), images of the four-armed bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, Lama Tangton Gielpo and teacher Padmasambhava;
- on the outer wall of the second floor one can see images of tantric deities;
- The inner wall of the second floor shows images of Tibetan saints and Indian Mahasiddhas.
The Dunze-lakhang monastery is located in a beautiful area at the foot of the hill. Next to it are other local attractions - the National Museum of Bhutan and the ancient Buddhist temple of Pan-lakhang.
How to get there?
