Deviations and norms of the index of ESR in children
In a healthy child, this parameter depends on age:
- in newly born babies it is up to 2-4 mm / h;
- up to 1 year, the norm ranges from 3 to 10 mm / h;
- in children from 1 to 5 years, the normal ESR is 5-11 mm / h;
- in the age group up to 14 years, the value should correspond to a gap of 4 to 12 mm / h;
- over 14 years: boys - 1-10, and girls - 2-15 mm / h.
If the indicator exceeds the upper limit of the norm, then we are talking about an increase in the parameter. This can be triggered not only by the pathological but normal physiological process in the body of the crumbs. For example, the rate of erythrocyte sedimentation will increase when the teeth are chopped. Fat food and stress, some drugs also contribute to the increase in the parameter.
To increase the level of ESR in the blood in a child can lead to an infectious disease, inflammatory process, allergic reaction, intoxication, trauma.
If the value does not reach the lower limit, then this also becomes evidence of deviations in health. This leads to recent poisoning, dehydration, viral hepatitis, cardiac pathologies and circulatory system.
It should be noted that the doctor will not diagnose only on the basis of the value of this indicator. The doctor will evaluate the value solely in conjunction with other indicators. Examine the ESR in a child only in the blood, in the urine they just look for the presence of red blood cells in it .
