Gastroduodenitis is a form of chronic gastritis, in which not only the mucous membrane of the stomach but also the duodenum is inflamed. With this disease, the food begins to be poorly digested, which makes it an irritating factor for the body. Unfortunately, in recent years, chronic gastroduodenitis in children has become increasingly apparent.
Symptoms of gastroduodenitis in children
The signs of this disease are very similar to the symptoms of gastritis.
- Pain in the epigastric region (area of the stomach), which can appear in the child, both before meals, and during or after. Because small children can not accurately explain how and where they hurts, then very often just point to the navel.
- Decreased appetite.
- Weight loss.
- Unpleasant odor from the mouth.
- "Sour" eructation and heartburn.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Children under one year are not infrequently observed intestinal dysbiosis.
- Sometimes there are constipation, but the stool is usually normal.
- Pale and bruised under the eyes.
Causes of gastroduodenitis
We divide them into external and internal factors.
External are:
- absence of a diet;
- frequent use of fatty, fried, hot and fast food;
- dry clothes;
- binge eating;
- crisps, crackers and nuts - they contain too much salt;
- a monotonous menu that can lead to a shortage of certain vitamins;
- long-term use of antibiotics.
Internal factors:
- heredity, genetic predisposition to increased acidity of the stomach;
- various diseases of the liver, gallbladder and other organs of the gastrointestinal tract, any acute intestinal infection;
- carious teeth, inflamed tonsils (these are also infections, only located in the mouth and throat);
- parasites - worms and lamblia;
- stress;
- active or passive smoking (finding next to smoking cigarettes).
Treatment of gastroduodenitis in children
Diet
In addition to medicines, in the treatment of gastroduodenitis in children, a diet is required.
1. Do not take breaks between meals for more than 4 hours. There is less, but more often, just what is needed in this case.
2. Products that should be excluded when gastroduodenitis:
- fatty and spicy dishes;
- smoked products;
- soda;
- condiments;
- broths (sounds strange, but very often after eating a soup, suffering from gastritis or gastroduodenitis, feels severe pain in the stomach);
- chocolate.
3. Products recommended for gastroduodenitis:
- porridge (except pearl barley and wheat);
- fish and meat (only not fried);
- Vegetables (except beans, garlic, bell pepper and radishes);
- fruit;
- greens (except sorrel and spinach).
After a meal, a walk on the street is recommended for at least 30 minutes. Do not take a horizontal position for several hours after eating.
Medications
Children up to a year in the first place must necessarily cure dysbiosis. Very often after this, the problem of gastroduodenitis disappears. The doctor himself will pick up what he considers appropriate for this age.
To reduce inflammation of the intestinal mucosa, enveloping drugs (maalox, phosphalugel) are prescribed.
For the normalization of digestion, enzyme preparations (mezim, creon) are taken.
Only in no case should you stop at the middle of the course,
It should also be remembered that children who are familiar with gastroduodenitis are contraindicated in severe physical exertion, which has intra-abdominal pressure. They include intense running, jumping and lifting weights.
It often happens that in addition to gastroduodenitis there is also pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas). Do not joke with either one or the other diseases, so be sure to follow all the prescriptions and recommendations of doctors, go through all the necessary procedures - the child's health is in your hands.
