Free museums in Moscow

The capital of Russia by right can be proud of a huge number of museums, museums-reserves, art galleries. But a visit to the museum by the whole family, especially several excursions, can deal a tangible blow to the budget. Not everyone knows that in Moscow there are many free museums.

Museum of Water

The Moscow Metro Museum

In the southern lobby of the metro station "Sportivnaya" you can visit the museum dedicated to the history of the most popular transport mode in the capital. Museum of Industrial Culture

The museum collection consists of machinery, cars, used in the XX century. The Museum of Industrial Culture is located in a large hangar on the outskirts of Kuzminsky Park. Many exhibits are donated by Muscovites themselves.

Museum of unique dolls

The museum of unique dolls was opened not so long ago, in 1996. The exposition includes masterpieces of puppetry from past eras of Germany, France, Russia, England, etc. In the museum fund there are several thousand dolls of porcelain, wax, wood, papier-mâché and other materials, puppet wardrobe items, toy houses. The museum, located on Pokrovka 13, is one of the museums in Moscow, working for free for all categories of visitors.

The Lunarium Museum

The Metropolitan Planetarium is not included in the number of free museums, but the entrance to the Lunarium, an interactive museum in Moscow, is free for children under 6 years old. In an accessible form, children are introduced to the physical laws of nature and astronomical phenomena.

Days of free visits to the capital's museums

With the purpose of popularization, an order was issued to establish days of free visits to museums in Moscow. Every third Sunday of the month you can go to the interesting museums of Moscow related to the Department of Culture for free. The list includes the Museum-Estate of Lefortovo, Tsaritsyno, Kuskovo , the Museum of Archeology, the Panorama Museum "Borodino Battle", the Memorial Museum of Astronautics, many museum-manors, part of art, literary and musical museums. There are 91 museums and an exhibition hall. Also free entrance to the museums of Moscow during the winter holidays, April 18 and May 18 - in the days of the cultural and historical heritage of the capital, the City Day and the Night of Museums.

For organized groups of students (up to 30 people) on these days there are free guided tours to individual museums in Moscow for a shortened program. Among them are the Moscow Kremlin, the Moscow Circus on Tsvetnoy Boulevard, the Theater "The Corner of Grandfather Durov".

Since September 1, 2013 municipal museums in Moscow are working for free for full-time students. According to the Department of Culture, about 180,000 full-time students can benefit annually.
