Garden of tropical spices

One of the most interesting sights of the Malaysian island of Penang is the Garden of tropical spices. It is located on the north coast, near the town of Teluk Bahang .

Organizers of the amazing garden

Once on the site of the garden was a rubber plantation, but in 2003 the English couple Wilkinsons conceived to break an unusual park here. The old rubber trees did not cut down, they served as a reliable shadow curtain for capricious spices. The garden of tropical spices has small dimensions, its area barely reaches 3 hectares.

Excursion routes

Today, about 500 species of plants grow on the park's territory, many of which are placed in an artificial environment, since they are usually found in other ecosystems. The owners of the unusual garden arranged three excursion routes for detailed acquaintance with the plants:

  1. Trail of spices. Here tourists can see only spices and spices, fascinating with bright aromas. Guides will tell the story of the origin of each plant species, tell about the use in cooking. At one of the stops you can see stone mortars filled to the top with various spices: ginger, vanilla, cinnamon and others. As a gift, visitors will receive a colorful booklet and a small stock of fragrant herbs.
  2. A path of exotic plants. There are countless collections of them. Her visit is less informative, but very graphic and does not require the help of a guide. Not far from this route, a waterfall flows, forming a small pond, dotted with giant water lilies.
  3. The path of the jungle. The route passes through thickets of ferns, huge palms, wild orchids. Its participants make a stop in the bamboo garden to rest and drink tea.
