Greenland - mountains

In Greenland is very unusual, by our standards, nature. You can talk about it for hours, or you can come here and see with your own eyes the magnificent northern lights, glittering fjords and the royal glacial shield of the island. There are also mountains in Greenland, which are concentrated on the east of the island. Among the most noteworthy are three of them - this is Gunbjørn, Naparsorsuak and Trout. Let's find out what they are interesting.

Mount Gunbjørn

It is the highest peak of Greenland , reaching 3,700 m. Moreover, this mountain is also the highest point of the entire Arctic. Located Gunbjörn in the southeast of the island, in the belt of the Watkins mountains, about 2500 m high. This peak was first conquered in 1935. Neighborhoods of the "Hunnian Bear", as is often called Mount Gunbjørn, have a striking resemblance to the pyramids of Giza. Therefore, not only professional alpinists and lovers of arctic exotics make pilgrimage here, but also fans of occult sciences and riddles of the past.

Tourists going to the mountains of Greenland, you should know that at night there is very cold even in the summer. Therefore, shoes and clothes must correspond to the weather, and equipment - to be as reliable as possible.

Mountain Trout

This peak lies slightly to the south than Gunbjørn, and belongs to the Schweizerland mountain range in the Sermersook region. This territory belongs to the Land of King Christian IX. Trout is the second tallest in Greenland - 3,391 m. The mountain was named after a Swiss scientist who was studying mountain glaciers.

A simple tourist to admire the mountains of Greenland is easiest from the window of an airplane or a helicopter flying over an island. If you belong to the category of brave climbers, you will find here a lot of interesting routes, according to which, probably, the human foot has not yet set foot. But be careful: the conditions of the Greenland mountains are really extreme!

Mount Napapsorsuaq

On the very south of the island, in the Kujallek region, there is another mountain - the top of the Napasorsuak with a height of 1590 m. This area is also popular because since 2004, in the valley to the right of the mountain, gold mining is in progress. This mountain valley is called Kirkespirit, sometimes it is also called the summit itself. In 1987, the Austrian expedition climbed the mountain of Napasorsuac.

In Greenland, there are not so high mountains, anyone can climb on it. This trip will be remembered to you by unusual, very peculiar landscapes. Do not forget to book a hotel room in advance, so as not to spoil your holiday in any way.
