The length of our grumblers does not exceed 7.5 cm, so for a couple of gurami enough for a full tank of 30 liters. The water temperature should be about 22-25 °, the pH within 6-7.5. Filtering and aeration should not cause a strong current, otherwise gurus will not create nests. Change the water (up to 10-20%) a couple times a month.

Our grumblers belong to micro-predators, consuming with pleasure, like larvae, insects, crustaceans, fruit flies, and small shrimps. In addition, these fish eat frozen and dry food, which facilitates their maintenance. Sexual maturity of females of these gouramis reach to six months of age, but males need twice as much time for this. In appearance, the female is a bit pale and slender than the partners. Sometimes "guys" arrange scuffles, but they do not cause any damage to the opponents.
