What do you need for Kanzash?
- Tapes from any fabric 5cm and 2.5cm wide. But for beginners, folding of bulk Kanzash flowers from satin ribbons is better.
- Ruler and pencil.

- The glue "Moment" is transparent. The Japanese Kansas technique involves the use of rice glue, but it dries very long, so it's better to change the traditions a bit and take the usual quick-drying glue.

How to do Kanzashi?
To make Kanzash you need to figure out how to make 2 types of petals - round and sharp. You can make Kanzash from both round petals and thick ones, and you can combine both types of petals in one product. So do not be puzzled about finding schemes, it will be enough for your imagination. If you decide to make Kanzash for the first time, then it's better to draw a finished product, so you know exactly how many petals you need and what type they should be.
How to make Kanzash flowers with round petals?
Cut ribbons into squares.- Fold the square in half, along the diagonal.
- Lower the corners of the resulting triangle down.
- We turn the workpiece.
- Press the corners of the diamond to the center.
- Fold the workpiece in half, the corners inward.
- The lower acute corner is slightly pruned.
- We melt the slices over the candle or quickly conduct around the edges with a heated soldering iron.
- We fasten the petals with decorative pins.
- Having made the necessary quantity of petals, we collect them by means of a thread and a needle.
- The middle is left empty or covered with a large bead, paillettes or other decorative element attached with glue.
How to make Kanzash flowers with sharp petals?
- We cut rectangles from a fabric.
- Fold the rectangles in half to make a square.
- Fold the square in half, along the diagonal.
- Fold the angles of the resulting triangle to the middle.
- Fold the workpiece in half, so that the folded corners are inside.
- Straighten the petal and fix it with glue and a pin.
- The bottom part is cut off.
- We melt the slices over the candle or quickly conduct around the edges with a heated soldering iron.
- Having made the necessary number of blanks, we collect them in a flower and decorate to your liking.
A few recommendations for making kanzash
- Do not immediately take on complex compositions, it is better to try to make a simple flower from one type of petals.
- Some types of fabrics are very strongly crumbled, so their edges are better to melt after cutting the squares. You can do this by soldering iron, quickly passing them around the sides of the square. If there are no communication skills with the soldering iron, then it is better to take a candle for this purpose. The fabric should not be melted at the edge of the flame, but near the very base, quickly drawing the edge of the square along the flame.
- If the fabric does not hold the shape well, and you need to make a sharp petal, you can sprinkle the workpiece with hairspray. However, in this case, you can collect the flower only when the billet completely dries.
- If you want to make sharp two-colored petals, then we make two blanks of different colors. In this case, the one that will be inside, we make from the square millimeters to 5 less than the outer one. Before the last folding of the workpiece is combined, slightly shifting the inner down. Then turn the petal and fix it.
- If you want to make a round two-color petal, then cut out two squares of cloth of different colors (one bigger, another smaller). After folding the square in half, overlap one on the other, sliding the inner triangle slightly down.
