How to multiply clematis?

In our time among gardeners it is very fashionable to grow any plant from seeds. Clematis is no exception. But if you decide that growing clematis from seeds is your option, then it's worth paying special attention to the seeds themselves.

In order for the plant to grow well, it must be grown from seeds that are only harvested or organized properly. Store them in a paper bag at a temperature of 20-23 ° C. Shelf life is up to four years.

Clematis multiplication with seeds

Planting clematis seeds should be carried out in a very loose ground. In this case the soil must have an excellent air and water permeability. Perfectly suitable for planting clematis seeds is a mixture of peat, sand and earth in a ratio of 1: 1: 1.

Seed is planted at different times, depending on the seeds themselves. Seeds are sown in March-April, but large ones - in the fall, immediately after they were harvested.

Before harvesting, take the clematis seeds and soak for 7 days, not forgetting to change the water 5 times a day. It will be very good if, within two days, you treat the seeds with oxygen (using a compressor for the aquarium), this will have a beneficial effect on the acceleration and increase in germination.

Then lay the seeds not very densely in one layer on a slightly compacted soil, from above sprinkle 2 cm of coarse sand. Cover the container with glass or film. Watering as required. It is better to do this carefully, so that the water flow does not drag the seeds deep into the soil.

Clematis from seeds, depending on its variety, germinates at different times. When the shoots have real leaves, they will need to be transplanted into separate cups and then grown in greenhouse conditions. In the open ground the plant should be transplanted when the last frosts run out.
