Cherry planting dates

The most optimal period when it is recommended to plant cherries is October. This is due to the fact that the tree no longer grows (rests), and until the first frosts about another month. During this time, the seedling will have time to take root.
Preparing for the autumn planting of cherries
In this case it is very important to choose the correct seedling, and then properly prepare it and the planting site.
For successful survival, one should choose either a one-year-old seedling about 80 cm high, or 2-year-old - 110 cm. In any case, it should have a well developed root system. Immediately before planting, it is necessary to cut the damaged roots and branches, leaving only healthy parts, but not less than 25 cm.
For a cherry you should choose a well-lit place, while protected from winds. The soil for it is better to choose with neutral acidity. On the selected site of the earth we excavate a pit about 60 cm wide and 45 cm deep. Its size directly depends on the volume of the root system of the plant. It is considered correct that the roots should be well spread out in different directions along the perimeter. When digging out, the upper (more fertile) soil must be separated from the lower one. After that, you can proceed to the actual landing.
How to plant a cherry in the fall?
- In the center of the pit, we set the peg. Around it we pour the upper land, mixed with manure. Pour a bucket of water
- Dip the roots of cherries in a mixture of clay with manure and place on the formed hillock on the left side of the support.
- Sprinkle with fertile soil, constantly applying a new layer. This is necessary in order to get out all the air.
- We fall asleep a hole with the remaining lower ground, fill it with water and also ram it.
- Around the seedling, at a distance of 30 cm make an earthen rampart.
- An hour after planting, the sapling should be poured into a third bucket of water and once again ground.
- Then mulch the ground around the trunk of the planted seedlings with the rotted compost, sawdust or manure. This will help prevent soil cracking and loss of moisture.
After the cherry stands a little and the soil around it sits down, we tie the tree to the peg.
If the cherry seedlings are planted in the autumn, then they will need to be bored afterwards, since this will help to prevent the winter root system from freezing out in the young tree.
How to plant a cherry from a stone?
- Any stone fruit plant can be grown from a seed located inside the fetus. This also applies to cherries. Therefore, if you do not hurry or trust the sold seedlings, then you will need to act as follows:
- We clear the bone from the pulp and wash it in warm water.
- Dry and add in a transparent container until July.
- In mid-July, pour water on the bones and leave for a day. We repeat this procedure for a week.
- We place the soaked seeds in moist sand and leave there for a month and a half or two months. This will "wake up the bone", that is, it will lead to a state of rest and increase the probability of its germination.
- After the sprouts appear, the cherries can be planted in the open ground, dipping them 5 cm.
