History of the pond

Many believe that the beautiful Makhov lake in the Czech Republic , bordered by rocks and green hills, is of natural origin. In fact, this is not so. In the XIV century, the Czech king Charles IV decided to create his own body of water on this land. So in 1366 appeared Velki Rybnik (The Great Pond) - an artificial reservoir, which was first used for breeding fish. Gradually, these places were chosen for recreation by representatives of the Czech nobility.

And only in the last century the lake was renamed in Makhovo in honor of the Czech poet, who sang of this beauty. Since that time, there has been a sharp jump in the development of tourism in these places. Today Makhovo lake, which can be seen in the photo below - is a popular resort in the Czech Republic.
