Museum of Miniatures

The Museum of Miniatures is located in Prague near the Strahov Monastery . This is a private museum, which has no analogues in the Czech Republic and has the largest collection in Europe. It is interesting that the owner of the museum is the author himself. He comes from Russia, because of which the museum is especially liked to visit tourists from the CIS.

History of the Museum of Miniatures in Prague

Russian artist Anatoly Konenko was carried away by microminiature technique in the late 70s. In 1981, he began work, perhaps, on the most famous exhibit - a shoddy flea. Anatoly worked on it for 7,5 years. He not only put the horseshoe on her hind legs, but also put in the front gold scissors, key and lock. It is impossible to see them without a magnifying glass. The following his works were created already faster, and by the middle of the 90s the artist already had a small collection.

In 1998 Konenko organized an exhibition of his works in Prague. It aroused great interest among the public, the exhibition was even visited by the President of the Czech Republic. He was delighted with what he saw and invited the master to make the exhibition permanent. Thus, the Museum of Miniatures in Prague was formed.

Collection

The exhibits of the museum are surprising not only by their size, but also by subjects. The basis for the gold figures are unexpected items that deftly emphasize their miniature, for example:

In the collection of the Museum of Miniatures in Prague there are also copies of paintings by world artists, among them you can see the work "Madonna Litta" da Vinci. It's amazing to look at a known canvas, the size of which does not exceed 2.5 mm. No less interesting to look at the Eiffel Tower height of only 3.2 mm.

Two works of Konenko took pride of place in the Guinness Book of Records, namely a shoddy flea and a book whose area of ​​pages does not exceed 1 square. mm. There are 30 sheets of birch bark, on which the Chekhov story "Chameleon" is located. Through the magnifying glass you can even read the work.

Visiting of museum

You can visit here any day of the week from 9:00 to 17:00. The cost of an adult ticket is $ 5, the cost of an adult ticket is $ 2.5. If you visit the exhibition with your family, then you will get a discount for tickets. In the museum you can often meet the creator of miniatures. Sometimes Anatoly Konenko personally conducts excursions and answers visitors' questions.

How to get there?

You can get to the Museum of Miniatures in Prague by public transport . To do this, take the tram number 22 or 23 and get off at the Pohorelec stop. To the left of it there will be a narrow staircase between the houses, which will take you to the museum.
