Meiji-mura

The main attraction of the Japanese town of Inuyama, in Aichi prefecture, is Meiji-mura - an open-air museum.

The organizers of the park

The discovery of an unusual museum took place on March 18, 1965. Its organizers dreamed of preserving and making public monuments of the Meiji era that covered Japan from 1868 to 1912. The indifferent Japanese residents , Dr. Yoshiro Taniguchi and Moto Tstikatava, organized the Meiji-mura complex.

An important period in the history of the country

The main characteristic of the Meiji period was Japan's openness to external contacts with other countries. The state willingly adopted the advanced experience of the European powers in the field of construction. Traditional wooden buildings began to displace the giants of glass, steel, concrete. Unfortunately, most of the buildings of that time were destroyed by natural disasters and human activities. The rest are immortalized in an unusual museum.

Museum and its collection

Meiji-mura is located on the square in 1 square. km. This considerable territory is decorated with the most famous buildings of Japan - more than 60 exhibits related to the Meiji period.
