The Peace Pagoda is one of the most important elements of the cultural heritage in Brisbane . In addition, it is the only international exhibition that has not been dismantled, but has survived to this day and is a landmark. The Nepalese Pagoda was established in 1988 to participate in the World Expo'88. It was made jointly by the UN and the Association for the Conservation of Asian Culture. At the end of the exhibition, it was decided to save the Pagoda and find a "new home" for it. And this place was Brisbane, where today it is one of the main attractions.
What to see?
The Peace Pagoda in Brisbane is a project created by the German architect Johan Reyer. But despite the fact that he is a true Aryan, he managed to create an object thoroughly impregnated with eastern culture. The pagoda is filled with amazing paintings on Buddhist themes. These works are executed filigree, they consist of many small details and fill the structure with the most real Buddhist energy. All of them differ from each other, that's why every picture makes the visitors die down and leads to deep reflections. By the way, the Pagoda was created for meditation, so there are many traditional elements of the Eastern religion, which by themselves bring guests to the state of meditation. It is noteworthy that tourists from different faiths visit the Nepalese Pagoda and this is a sign that everybody can find peace here.
Interesting Facts:
- In preparation for the exhibition, 80 tons of indigenous Nepalese timber were used to create the Pagoda.
- 160 Nepalese families worked on the creation of elements for the Pagoda. This colossal number of people hand-wrought every detail for two years. After that, in Nepal, the exhibit was collected only two days.
