Acute adnexitis ( salpingoophoritis ) is a disease of the organs of the female reproductive system, which is accompanied by inflammation of the ovaries and uterine (fallopian) tubes. This ailment is caused by exposure to the organism of infectious microorganisms and viruses (chlamydia, mycoplasmas, staphylococci, enterococci and streptococci).
Ways of spreading acute adnexitis
There are two types of infection:
- endogenous (internal) - is the ingress of an infectious agent into the appendages with blood or lymph;
- exogenous (external) - is spread by direct penetration of the virus into the microflora of the uterus (with sexual intercourse, therapeutic procedures, insertion or removal of the intrauterine device).
Development of the disease
In most cases, salpingo-oophoritis is preceded by subacute adnexitis , which is an early stage of the disease. At this stage of the disease, the symptoms are almost not expressed and are more reminiscent of the signs of a cold:
- increase in temperature by 1-2 degrees;
- slight malaise;
- pain in the lower abdomen.
Depending on the characteristics of the body and the immunity of the patient, the disease in the early stages can be asymptomatic. With further inflammation of the ovaries and fallopian tubes, the symptoms of acute adnexitis appear as:
- severe illness;
- strong pains in the abdomen (giving back and hips);
- nausea;
- vomiting;
- increased temperature;
- pain when urinating.
A common form of acute salpingitis is a bilateral acute adnexitis, which is characterized by inflammation of the uterine appendages on both sides. Most often, the disease is accompanied by endometritis (inflammation of the mucous membranes of the vagina). Pathology has a huge list of complications, among which:
- decreased immunity;
- disturbance of microflora;
- hormonal imbalance;
- destabilization of the nervous system.
Rapid division of infectious pathogens within the genitalia affects tissue, muscle and mucous membranes, which leads to loss of physiological properties of the ovaries and fallopian tubes. This type of disease is the direct cause of the development of acute chronic adnexitis. At this stage of the disease, symptoms can be expressed not brightly, while during the course of the disease there are alternating stages of exacerbation and temporary remission.
Causes of acute adnexitis
Adnexitis, like any venereal disease, is a consequence of direct infection into the human body. Especially great is the risk of infection with frequent changes in sexual partners. The development of the disease is also facilitated by:
- hypothermia;
- stress;
- non-observance of personal hygiene;
- the transferred diseases of the reproductive system.
Acute adnexitis or acute salpingitis is a gynecological disease with a very high risk of recurrence and serious consequences in the form of infertility. Most experts are of the opinion that using intrauterine contraceptives increases the risk of infection. Only an expert can diagnose this disease, analyzing the results of the survey, among them the conclusion
Prevention
In order to prevent ovarian inflammation and acute adnexitis in particular, experts recommend:
- pay attention to proper and balanced nutrition;
- to lead a healthy lifestyle: to abandon nicotine and alcohol - substances that suppress immunity;
- have a regular sexual partner;
- regularly visit the office of a gynecologist.
