Ointment Beloderm - an external preparation based on glucocorticosteroids, used to treat dermatitis (acute inflammation of the skin) of various origins. The drug has anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, antiallergic effect, promotes the cessation of exudate discharge in case of dermal skin lesions, reduces swelling and skin tightening.
Composition of ointment Beloderm
The main active substance of the drug is betamethasone, a synthetic steroid hormone produced in the body by the adrenal cortex. Both cream and ointment Beloderm contain the active substance in a concentration of 0.05%.
Ointment Beloderm is a homogeneous white translucent substance. As an auxiliary component it includes mineral oil and petroleum jelly.
Cream Beloderm is a homogeneous white substance. The following components are used as auxiliary components:
- chlorocresol;
- sodium dihydrogen phosphate monohydrate;
- phosphoric acid;
- petrolatum;
- mineral oil;
- macrogol, cetostearate;
- cetostearyl alcohol;
- sodium hydroxide;
- water.
The therapeutic effect of both forms of the drug is the same, and they are interchangeable. The choice - to use cream or ointment Beloderm - depends more on the form of skin lesions. The cream is more suitable for wetting inflammation. Ointment is more often used for dry, flaky rashes, seals, lichen, it is more convenient to apply under a bandage.
Indications and contraindications to the use of Beloderm ointment
Beloderm ointment is used to treat:
- dermatitis of various origin (atopic, allergic, contact and non-contact dermatitis, including radiation and sun);
- eczema ;

- other skin inflammations, including allergic reactions after insect bites.
The drug does not apply when:
- infectious diseases (tuberculosis, chicken pox, syphilis);
- skin ulcers;
- viral and fungal skin lesions;
- inflammations that occurred after vaccination;
- open wounds;
- acne.
How to apply Beloderm ointment?
As the instruction on the use of Beloderm's ointment says, the drug is applied in a thin layer, rubbing a little, strictly on the affected area of the skin, up to three times a day. It is usually recommended two-time application of Beloderm. More often the drug is applied to areas with coarse skin and places where the ointment is easily erased (feet, palms, elbows).
The period of use of Belomoderm ointment should not exceed one month, on the face - not longer than one week. With prolonged use of Beloderm on the face, development is possible:

- rosacea;
- oral dermatitis.
On the eye area and mucous ointment is not applied.
