Oven brick

For a long time, the heart of any house, the embodiment of home warmth and comfort was baked. Nowadays, in private houses, returning to traditions, they also often install stoves or fireplaces, providing for them a place at the design stage. And this is not surprising, because the stove or fireplace in the house is not only an additional source of heat, but also a unique object of the interior decoration of the house. However, not everyone knows that it is necessary to erect a stove only from special oven bricks.

Characteristics of kiln brick

We will not focus on all existing types of stove (or refractory) brick, but consider in more detail the one that is used in domestic construction. For furnaces in private houses use solid ceramic kiln brick, which is also called chamotte. Chamotte bricks are made from special types of clay, they are laid out the inside of the furnace, the one that comes into direct contact with the fire - the furnace. Stove fireclay brick has a unique performance characteristics:

Be sure to pay attention to the color of oven bricks - it has a straw-yellow shade with dark impregnations, but not red!

But! This is not the whole process of erecting the furnace. The furnace itself made of fireclay bricks is covered with another type of brick - zabutovym (private). The so-called body of the furnace is created. For this brick, an important quality indicator is the brand of strength - it must be at least M-175 (otherwise the brick will collapse in the process of operation, it will simply crumble). And on this the erection of the furnace does not end. There remains the most interesting process - the facing of the furnace. For this stage, a certain type of oven bricks is also used - facing. The surface of such a brick, as a rule, is smooth, evenly colored, with a facet along the perimeter. The facing brick kiln can be straight and radial. Radial brick is used when laying out special constructional forms of the furnace - arches, smooth transitions, for creating corners. The radial radius of the radial bricks is typically 60 ° or 120 °. Another type of facing bricks is angled, with corners cut on both sides.

On a note. When laying any kind of oven bricks, a special mortar based on refractory clay and heavy fireclay bricks should be used.

Figured brick kiln

To give the exterior appearance of the oven a special decorative, it is often used figured facing brick, which allows to give the facing unusual shapes. Such a brick may have bevelled corners (one or more); have a wedge-shaped, arched or trapezoidal shape, not to mention the variety of textures and shades. Using such a brick without much difficulty, you can decorate the oven with various posts, arches , bumps and other decorative elements. Another way to create a kiln with a unique, exclusive exterior design is the use of figured and direct facing brick of hand-molded "antique".
