Protein in the urine of a child - the norm (table)

The result of urine analysis in a child can tell not only about the state of the urinary system, but also about the presence of various disabilities of the child's organism as a whole. This is why this study is prescribed by doctors for almost any discomfort in toddlers, as well as for assessing the general state of health in different periods of their life.

Particularly important in the results of this analysis is the presence of protein, which can indicate the development of serious and dangerous diseases. Since this parameter is not normal in children, young parents should be understood, as evidenced by the increase in protein in the urine of a child, and in which cases it is necessary to conduct additional tests.

What does the protein in the urine mean in a child?

With normal functioning of the kidneys and the urinary system as a whole, the necessary substances do not leave the body together with the urine. Proteins also belong to this category, so in the results of analysis in a healthy child they are not determined, or their concentration is very small.

If, for some reason, the protein begins to clog the filter canals, its content in urine increases markedly, which makes it possible to suspect the presence of serious diseases. At the same time, the presence of protein in the daily urine of newborn children is considered a variant of the norm and does not require treatment or additional research.

Such a condition in most cases is explained by the adaptation of a tiny organism to new conditions of life, therefore it passes independently for 2-3 weeks. In addition, the protein in the urine of a newborn baby can be determined by overfeeding, as well as the malnutrition of the nursing mother, in which the woman consumes too much protein food.

If the concentration of this indicator reaches 0.15 g / day or more, this condition is called proteinuria and requires mandatory additional studies. When such a result of the analysis is obtained, it is necessary, first of all, to retake it, and in case of confirmation of the violation, it is necessary to send the crumb to a detailed survey to determine the cause of the increase in the indicator.

The degree of deviation of protein concentration in the urine in a child from the norm is determined by the following table:
