Every aquarist knows that cleaning the aquarium requires not only water , but also soil . In order to eliminate all accumulated debris from the sand or rock mass, a special device is used - a siphon for cleaning the aquariums. With it, you can easily extract the remains of uneaten food, rotting algae particles and the products of vital activity of all underwater inhabitants. Such cleaning is very useful, because it prevents soil souring, the formation of harmful hydrogen sulphide and ammonia in it.
When siphons for cleaning aquariums did not exist, the soil had to be seized, washed, and then poured into place again. However, such a procedure had an adverse effect on the vital activity of beneficial bacteria in the water. Now this problem is solved.
Considering how the siphon works for an aquarium, it will not be very difficult to restore order in the home underwater kingdom. Enough to immerse the hose in the ground and blow into the tube. On the return draft, all the garbage along with the water pours out into the container at the other end of the hose. At this time, the ground rises up to half a wide pipe, and then safely sinks to the bottom.

Many people are trying to improve the model, and for the sake of convenience they attach a regular medical pear to the edge of the hose so that they do not have to blow it, but it was enough to squeeze the pear a few times. However, the effectiveness of this does not increase.
The most important element in the assembly of the siphon for the aquarium is the hose itself. For a capacity of 100 liters, a tube with a diameter of 10 mm is suitable. If you use thicker, then during "harvesting" you can not even notice how much water will pour into the bucket before you clean the bottom. To protect you from such troubles in our master class, we show you how to make a siphon for an aquarium of 50 liters of items that are sure to be in everyone's house. For this we need:
- a hose with a diameter of 5 mm - 1 m;
- plastic bottle of water - 1 pc;
- syringe 10 cubes - 2 pieces;
- insulating tape;
- brass outlet under the hose - 1 pc;
- knife.
We make a siphon for an aquarium with our own hands
- First we take the syringes, take out the piston and remove the needle.
- With a knife on both sides, cut off all the protrusions from one syringe, so that a tube would turn out.
- We take the second syringe and cut off with the knife only the part into which the piston entered. In the place where the needle was fastened we cut a hole with a diameter of 5 mm.
- We connect the resulting tubes together into one using an insulating tape. In this case, the part of the syringe with the hole must be located outside.
- At the same hole we insert the hose.
- We take a plastic bottle and cut a 4.5 mm hole in the cap.
- In the resulting hole, insert the brass outlet under the hose.
- To the ledge of the brass outlet, attach the other end of the hose.
- Our homemade siphon for the aquarium is ready.
In order for our device to work, it's enough to dip a wide end of the hose into the ground and squeeze the bottle. When reverse traction appears, and the debris from the bottom begins to rise up the hose, the bottle can be unscrewed from the lid, the end of the hose lowered into the bucket, and the voila, made by hand, the siphon for the aquarium came into effect. After such cleaning, the amount of water that has poured out with garbage must be replenished fresh.
