The Toy Terrier breed was bred in Moscow in the mid-50s of the 20th century. Russian cynologists have set themselves the idea of ​​bringing an analogue of the British terrier, which after the October Revolution became a deficit in the country. As a result of successful mixing of miniature smooth-haired dogs, a breed was obtained that was very different from its foreign counterpart. Since 2006, the breed of dogs Russian toy terrier has become a conventionally recognized breed, and in 2016 it is planned to officially endorse this unique subspecies of animals.

What does the Toy Terrier look like?

There are several varieties of Russian terrier:

  1. Long-haired. The body is covered with wavy moderately long hair, which does not hide the contours of the body. On the head, legs and hind legs, the coat fits more tightly. The ears are covered with a thick fur that resembles a fringe.
  2. Smooth-haired. The coat fits tightly to the body. Zalysin and the undercoat are not available. During winter walks it is recommended to warm the dog with special coveralls. In the opposite case, the animal may shiver.

Character

Very energetic and playful dog. Betrayed to the master, easily goes to contact with others. It has low stress resistance, therefore it is not suitable for families with noisy children. For all its "puppet" appearance, the animal is a typical terrier, as evidenced by its character - a pronounced temperament combined with tireless energy is the visiting card of the Russian toy.

This is a classic "apartment" dog , which does not require special care. She easily accustoms herself to the tray, does not need a weekly bath. Toy-terrier does not have to walk every day, but in cold weather it's better to leave it at home. Long-haired breed should be periodically combed with a special comb.
