The history of this resort is almost a legend, as much is connected with stories about Tsar Ferdinant and almost fairy-tale healing of the wife of the mayor of the neighboring city of Samokov. As a result, the elite of the society of that time began to buy up the land in pieces and build their villas. Gradually, about 70 houses were built there, each of which had its own unique appearance. In the 40s the resort village was nationalized, from Chamkoria it was renamed Borovets and until today it is the largest resort in Bulgaria.
