The KGB Museum

The Czech capital is famous for its huge number of attractions and museums that you can visit. Among others, there is also a KGB museum, which, undoubtedly, will be interesting for visiting tourists from the territory of the former USSR.

general information

The KGB Museum in Prague was opened in 2011. This happened thanks to a private collector who was fond of the history of Russia and for a long time lived there and began to gradually create a collection of unique historical things. It was this meeting that became the exhibition exposition of the museum. Exhibits here are not so much, the room is small, but the tour of the museum is very lively and interesting.

What can I see?

Thanks to the collector, the exposition of the museum contained things that were rather rare and unusual, which belonged to the heads of the USSR, the heads of the KGB, the Cheka, the NKVD, the Moscow City Government, the OGPU, the GPU, etc.

For example, among other things, the collection has:

You can join the part of not only Soviet, but also Czech history - the whole exhibition hall is dedicated to the events of 1968, when the USSR troops entered Czechoslovakia. Many of these exhibits are still on the territory of Russia listed as "top secret". In the museum of the KGB, you can look at the pictures that Soviet officers were making.

Also here the situation of the NKVD offices was restored. You will see from which cups there they drank tea and on what phones they talked, telling secret news. Here are interesting examples of special-purpose weapons, which at first glance looks completely innocuous. It could be a pack of cigarettes or a small shiny box full of poisonous gas.

With many exhibits in the halls you can take pictures and even hold in your hands the Kalashnikov assault rifle.

How to get there?

The KGB museum can be reached by tram lines Nos. 12, 15, 20, 22, 23, 41. Go to the stop Malostranské náměstí.
