The Garden of UNESCO

Monaco - the state is small, its area is just over 2 km 2 , but here there are many attractions . With great trepidation, local residents are in the nature - the country has developed a whole program to protect the existing "green spaces" and the arrangement of new ones.

General information about the garden

The UNESCO Garden in Monaco is located in a small town (or rather, the business district of the state) of Fontvieille . The area is quite new - these lands were literally conquered by the sea and appeared as a result of the drainage work carried out in 1970; Despite the fact that the entire area of Fonvieu is just below 33.5 hectares of land, there are cozy and beautiful gardens, including the Princess Grace Rose Garden , opened in 1984 in memory of Grace Kelly, and the Garden of Unesco.

The garden of Unesco (its other name is the Landscape Park of Fontvieille) does not impress with its size, it occupies only about 4 hectares, but it strikes with harmony of design and its well-groomedness, as well as the abundance of exotic plants. There are paved paths for walks, man-made terraces, benches, where you can relax in the shade of plants, fountains, as well as original sculptures of authorship of contemporary sculptors.

From the garden there are beautiful views of the harbor and old fortifications.

How to get to the garden?

The area of Fontvieille can be reached by bus number 5 from Hopital and route number 6 from Larvotto. Please note: buses run clearly on schedule and the break between flights is quite large; In addition, at 21-00 buses stop their traffic (there is a night route, operating from 21-20, but the break between buses will be even more). Therefore, it makes sense to rent a car and go to Fontvieille on your own or order a taxi.

The cost of a taxi ride depends on the distance - for each kilometer you will have to pay around 1.2 euros per day, and after about 22:00 - about 1.5 euros. You can also go to Fontvieille by sea on a water taxi. And it's even easier to get here on foot - good, the distances in Monaco allow it to be done. We also recommend you to visit such attractions as the Exotic Garden , the Louis II Stadium , the Maritime Museum and the Museum of Cars , located nearby - you will surely get a real treat from the walk.
