Trnavacko Lake

In the north-west of Montenegro is a fairly popular tourist site - Trnovatsko Lake. It is located on the territory of Pluzhine in the National Park Durmitor . Trnovatsko Lake is one of the most mysterious and romantic places in Montenegro, in shape resembling a big heart. Many travelers overcome a kilometer per kilometer to admire the amazing landscapes and greatness of the local mountains, see the beauty of the extraordinary lake-heart and, of course, leave a photo for memory.

Natural features of the reservoir

Trnovatsko Lake is located at an altitude of 1517 m above sea level. Its maximum length is 825 m and its width is 713 m. The maximum depth of the lake is 9 m. The water here, depending on the place, changes color from sky-blue near the coast to a bright blue and emerald shade in the center of the lake. The origin of the reservoir is associated with glaciers. In winter it freezes, turning into a huge mirror in the shape of the heart. The natural Montenegrin landmark is surrounded on all sides by mountain peaks, forests and rocky cliffs. Trnovatsko lake in Montenegro is very popular among climbers, as it serves as a starting point for conquering the peaks of Maglich, whose height is 2386 m.

How to get to the pond?

High mountains impede access to the Trnovatsky lake, especially from Montenegro. The lake-heart is so thoroughly hidden among the mountain ranges and fogs that it is impossible to get here on public or personal transport , only by a pedestrian route.

The bulk of tourist groups prefer to reach the sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina . If you start a trip from Pluzhine, you will have to tune in to a 6-hour tense trek through steep paths and high mountains. But after reaching Lake Trnovatsko, you can proudly say that you saw the very heart of Montenegro.
