During autumn harvesting, an urgent issue for gardeners is the subsequent storage of vegetables in winter.

Since not everyone has the opportunity to store vegetables in the cellar, for many, an alternative can be a chest for storing potatoes and other vegetables on the balcony .

Such a chest can be purchased either ready-made or manufactured by hand.

The cask is a thermo cabinet with insulation, inside which is a box with vegetables. The dimensions of the chest are chosen individually depending on the area of ​​the balcony in the apartment.

First you need to make a case, the material for which can be a choice of wood, fiberboard, chipboard or plywood. First, the side panels are made, which are twisted with screws, then the upper and back parts are attached to them.

After that, the thermal insulation box is sheathed with heat-insulating material. As a heater, you can choose foam, polystyrene foam, mineral wool.

Next, an inner box is made, in which vegetables will be stored. The dimensions of the box must be smaller than the size of the main box so that there is a gap between their walls necessary for air circulation.

The cache can be made in two ways:

1. Without electric heating. In this case, for the thermal insulation of the box it will be necessary to use a heater in two layers, and above the foil is insulated.
2. With electric heating. At the bottom of the box in the gap, which is formed between the inner box and the box, you will need to install a heater - a total power of 60 watts. The power of the fan is 12 volts. Use of this voltage is safe when operating the device. The low power of the tan provides energy savings. Teng is controlled by a special electronic unit.

In order to get the effect of the refrigerator, several holes are drilled in the box. Due to the fact that the box is located near the window, the necessary circulation of cold air is ensured.
