White grave in Rose Hall

The city of Montego Bay in Jamaica is famous for its ancient buildings dating back to the period of colonialism. The main attraction is the Rose Hall , built in the 18th century. Interest is not so much the building itself, as the legends that surround it.

Legend of the White Witch

According to the legend, mysterious, and sometimes monstrous events took place in the estate, but everything in order.

The first inhabitants of the mansion were the spouses Palmer - the rich and eminent people of that time. Their happy marriage ended in the sudden death of the mistress of the house - Rosa Palmer. The inconsolable widower John spent a long time mourning, but at the age of 72 he suddenly decided to marry. His chosen one was, a young girl named Annie, who came from Haiti. Old Palmer was not at all embarrassed by rumors that followed her trail. It turns out that Enya has already been married twice, and both her husband died under mysterious circumstances. The sad fate befell John himself, who died a month after the wedding, and as the legend says, not without the help of a "loving" wife.

Becoming the owner of the estate, Annie Palmer, daily committed crimes chilling the soul: tortured and killed slaves, selected the newly born children and sacrificed to otherworldly forces. These outrages were terminated by the slave Taku, who killed the mistress, unable to withstand bullying.

At the beginning of the 21st century, Benjamin Radford started to study the legend, who came to the conclusion that it is the most common fiction with the purpose of attracting tourists. However, this fact did not prevent the current owners of the estate from organizing here a museum of Jamaican culture of the XVIII-XIX centuries, which is called "The White Grave in Rose Hall." Today anyone can wander around the house and consider the things that surrounded the infamous Annie.
