The territory of Las Lajas is a stretch of shoreline from gray and black sand with a length of 14 km. Sand of this color is not uncommon for the beaches of Panama, it is called volcanic. This is the result of the transformation of volcanic ash for several thousand years. It includes such rare minerals as tungsten, titanium, zirconium and other components. The beach of Las Lajas is especially beautiful when black volcanic sand is mixed with white. This mixture sparkles and shines in the sun, like thousands of small diamonds. However, there is a slight drawback of the black layer of the beach: in the sun it is very hot, and walking barefoot on it is simply impossible.
Tourists, vacationers on the beach of Las Lajas, can bask in the warm waves of the ocean all year round thanks to a wonderful mild climate. From the scorching sun you can hide under the shade of tropical trees and branchy palms that grow all along the coast. How to get to Las Lajas beach?
Las Lajas is located in the western part of Panama , in the province of Chiriqui. The distance from the capital of Panama to the beach is 400 km. On the Pan-American Highway, you can drive in about 5 hours. If you get from the city of David , which is 75 km from the beach, then it will take only about an hour.
