Going on vacation or for a short planned vacation, it should be remembered that climate change may affect well-being.
Acclimatization of the body and its symptoms are quite normal phenomena, since a person needs to get used to new conditions, atmospheric pressure and humidity.
Signs and symptoms of acclimatization:
- coryza;
- Pershing and sore throat;
- chills;
- increased sweating ;
- increased heart rate.
Signs of acclimatization usually disappear on their own in a couple of days, but sometimes the body needs some help. For example, if the symptoms do not go away but are aggravated:
- increased blood pressure;
- problems with the intestines, most often diarrhea and constipation;
- nausea;
- dizziness;
- headache;
- vomiting;
- general weakness;
- poor sleep;
- disorders of the nervous system.
Types of acclimatization:
- thermal;
- high-altitude.
The above 2 types of acclimatization are the main and most common. Let's consider each of them in more detail.
How is acclimatization going on in the mountains?
Ascent to a height much higher than sea level, is somewhat dangerous for the human body. The main reason for this is a reduction in the concentration of available oxygen in the ambient air. Because of these conditions in the blood, the level of erythrocytes and hemoglobin increases in order to compensate for the lack of oxygen. Moreover, the blood flow velocity slows down considerably, the level of the basic metabolism decreases, the body, as it were, turns its work into an energy-saving regime. This leads to a decrease in human activity, drowsiness, weakness and headaches.
In addition, in the mountainous areas a very low barometric pressure. This provokes an increase in pulmonary ventilation in the body and a compulsory increase in the volume of the heart. Therefore, travelers and tourists often have severe shortness of breath or a feeling of strangulation.
Treatment of acclimatization in the mountains
First of all, it is necessary to avoid the factors that cause the appearance of the symptoms of acclimatization:
- Do not climb to a height of more than 500 m per day.
- Stay for 1-2 days at the reached altitude.
- Drink 2 times more water than under normal conditions.
- Restrict the diet, as digestion works worse in the mountains. Prefer to have low-fat, light foods, prepare hot first courses.
- Take vitamins and enzymes to stimulate digestion. Medications that help brain activity will also be useful.
If acclimatization does disturb its signs, it is necessary to descend to an acceptable height and provide the body with a state of rest. During the treatment, you can breathe oxygen or carbogen.
How to transfer acclimatization to the sea in a hot climate?
The difficulty of staying at the resorts is that, in addition to high temperatures, the ambient air disrupts the body's thermoregulation with excessive moisture. You can ease the condition in the following ways:
- Ensure acceptable air temperature and humidity in the rooms where you sleep and rest, for example, using an air conditioner;
- to limit physical exertion, in the first 1-2 days you need to allow yourself to sleep, even if the sleep time has significantly increased;
- drink at least 2.5-3 liters of water per day;
- to limit the consumption of salty foods and fatty foods;
- dress in light, loose clothes made of natural fabrics;
- in the evening, go for a walk before going to bed;
- take a cool shower;
- Do not sunbathe from noon to 3 pm;
- wear hats.
It will not be superfluous to bring along chemotherapy drugs, especially antipyretic drugs and medications to normalize the intestine.
