Beer composition

Beer contains a large number of valuable components. This is one of the oldest drinks. But in the history of making it has changed a lot, so the beer that is produced today differs significantly from the beer that was made several centuries ago.

Composition of modern beer

Modern technologies for making beer consist of several stages. To begin with, malt is prepared from barley or other cereals. The second stage involves the preparation of the wort, and the third stage is the filtration of the wort and the addition of brewer's yeast to it.

Chemical composition of beer

The basis of the chemical composition of beer is water, it is about 93% of the whole beverage. In beer contains carbohydrates from 1,5 to 4,5%, ethyl alcohol - from 3,5 to 4,5% and up to 0,65% of nitrogen-containing substances. All other components of this drink are designated minor. Carbohydrates predominantly consist of 75-85% dextrins. About 10-15% accounted for simple sugars - fructose, glucose and sucrose. In addition to carbohydrates, one of the main components of beer, determining its calorific value, is ethyl alcohol. Nitrogen-containing components of beer include polypeptides and amino acids .

Nutritional value of beer

Beer does not contain any fat. The amount of proteins varies from 0.2 to 0.6. This indicator varies depending on the amount of alcohol. The use of beer for the human body is due to the composition of its raw materials. If compared with other beverages containing alcohol, the food and energy value of beer is quite high. It consists of nitrogen-containing substances, carbohydrates, vitamins, organic acids and minerals. In beer there are vitamins of group B, thiamine, riboflavin, nicotinic acid . Of the mineral substances, it contains phosphates.

Numerous studies confirm that useful substances in beer have a beneficial effect on the body. But it is worth remembering that beer is an alcoholic drink, and excessive use of it can lead to adverse effects and even to alcoholism.

Energy value of beer

Caloric content of beer depends on its strength and technology of production. For example, light beer will contain fewer calories than dark beer. On average, in 100 grams of beer there are 29 to 53 calories. This means that beer will not lead to obesity. But it has the ability to increase appetite and stimulates to excessive eating.
