Brunei Center for History

Brunei Center for History is one of the most popular museums in the country. It was created by the decree of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The primary objective of the museum was research. The history center has documented, and continues to do so, the history of the country and is engaged in the genealogy of the royal family.

What is interesting about the center of history?

In 1982, the Center for History first opened its doors to visitors. By that time, the museum's collection already had valuable exhibits: historical documents, personal belongings of the royal family and items found during archaeological excavations. The history of Brunei has the longest roots in the region, so the History Center attracts tourists who did not even plan to go deeper into the country's past.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah believed that the history of the state should be open to all and demanded from the museum staff not only a thorough study of history, but also a proper presentation to the public. Today everyone can look into the most interesting pages of the history of Brunei.

One of the most important directions of the work of the scientific center is the study of the genealogical tree of the royal family. Tourists can, with the help of a short excursion, learn about its main members and those who played a crucial role in the life of Brunei.

The Center of History itself is housed in a modern two-story building in Asian style. In order to make it easier for tourists to navigate all the inscriptions in the museum are duplicated in English.
