Chhyaksan


Chiaksan is a national park in South Korea . The picturesque reserve is in the east of the country and consists of the same mountains. It attracts with its beautiful nature, magnificent landscapes and a lot of old temples.

Description

The Chhyaksan Mountains have long been a home for religious people, since many temples were concentrated here. Nature lovers always attracted the mountain range with their high peaks and disobedience. The highest peak of the Chiaksan mountains is Pirobon, its height is 1288 m. The other two peaks, Namdaebon and Hyannobon, are slightly below it. It is believed that these mountains are the most beautiful in South Korea: in the summer they are rich in green, in the autumn - golden-scarlet, and in the winter - scarlet.

The area of ​​the park is 181.6 square meters. km. The nearest town, Wonju, is 12 km from Chiaksan.

Tourism in Chiaksan

Visiting the National Park Chhyksan provides hiking. Guides offer more than 7 routes, their length varies from 3 to 20 km. Traveling through the park include visiting not only the most beautiful corners of the reserve, but also temples. Routes pass by the most famous temples: Kurensa, Sangonsa or Sokgensa. Long tracks go past several temples or give an opportunity to at least look at them from afar.

Temples in Chiaksan

The very first temple built on the territory of the modern reserve is a Buddhist temple, it was erected in the 7th century. It still carries its original name - the Temple of Couryons. Once upon a time he was one of many other religious objects. To date, the park has only 9 churches. Also there are three pagodas on the Peorbon Peak, they are made of stone and have a height of 10 m.

Flora and fauna

The national park is rich in plants, there are 821 species. The pride of Chkhuksan is a forest with Mongolian and Japanese oaks. On densely covered with vegetation the mountains are inhabited by almost 2400 species of animals, of which 34 species are listed in the Red Book, among them a flying squirrel and a copper winged bat.

How to get there?

The National Park is next to Wonjou Province, so you need to get to it first. From the city to the entrance to the reserve will lead the road Panbu-myeon, you need to move to the north-east to Lake Haenggu-Dong. After that, turn right onto Haenggu-ro and drive to the reserve itself.
