The cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary usually does not represent a great danger for a woman. However, if the cyst is abnormal, it can cause some complications and health problems.
What it is?
In general, the cyst of the ovary's yellow body (right or left) is a benign formation in the ovary tissue. Pathology is formed from a yellow body that has not undergone regression. In it, under the influence of a malfunction in the circulatory system, serous or hemorrhagic fluid begins to accumulate. This phenomenon is diagnosed in 3% of women of childbearing age after the establishment of an abnormal two-phase menstrual cycle.
The size of the cyst of the right ovary with the yellow body usually does not exceed 6-8 cm in diameter. The cavity is filled with a yellowish-red liquid, and the walls are lined with luteinous granular cells.
Causes of ovarian cyst
The causes of the formation of the yellow body cyst remain unexplained and not fully understood. It is generally accepted that this is due to hormonal abnormalities, circulatory disorders in the ovaries, and impaired lymph flow.
It is definitely proved that the mechanisms of cyst formation are influenced by the following factors:
- taking ovulation-stimulating drugs that are prescribed for reproductive or reproductive problems, or when preparing for IVF;
- reception of emergency contraception;
- constant mono-diet, eating disorders;
- harmful working conditions;
- severe physical and mental stress;
- medical abortion;
- frequent oophoritis.
All these factors can lead to an endocrine imbalance and, as a consequence, the development of the luteal cyst in the ovary.
Symptoms of the cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary
Often the development of cysts is asymptomatic. This phenomenon takes several months, after which the cyst regresses spontaneously. However, in some cases, a woman feels discomfort, a feeling of heaviness, raspiraniya and soreness in the right side of the lower abdomen. Sometimes there is a delay in menstruation or increases its duration, which is due to uneven rejection of the endometrium.
If there is a complication of the course of the disease (twisting of the leg, pouring out the cyst into the abdominal cavity, breaking the ovary), the clinical picture is expressed as follows:
- there are severe pains in the cyst of the yellow body, they are piercing, cramping;
- intoxication of the body;
- nausea and vomiting may occur;
- Peristaltic noises disappear, the stool is broken, gases are retained in the body;
- there is a reflex stomach tension.
A ruptured cyst of the ovarian's yellow body is possible with intense sexual intercourse. In this case, the woman experiences a piercing (dagger) pain in the lower abdomen, forcing to immediately take a bent position. Often the condition is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness, weakness, cold sweat, fainting condition. Body temperature, while maintaining normal.
Treating the cyst of the ovarian yellow body
If a woman is diagnosed with an insignificant and clinically not manifested cyst, she is assigned a dynamic observation by a gynecologist, ultrasound and Doppler mapping for several monthly cycles. Basically, such cysts undergo regression and eventually completely disappear.
Surgery is indicated only in case of complications of the cyst or when it does not resolve within 3-4 months. In this case, a laparoscopic extraction of the cystic body and suturing of the walls or resection of the ovary is performed. Emergency removal of the ovary is performed with necrotic changes in the ovary tissues or when bleeding is opened.
