The duckling syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which a person, confronted with a new area for him, begins to distinguish, the best thing is the object that first caught his eye. Similarly, a person, seeing something new, can recognize this as the best, not paying attention to objective information. The effect of a duckling makes a person biased and intolerant of other people's views.

Usually this happens in incomplete or in dysfunctional families, but there are exceptions. A person who suddenly becomes a stranger, grows with a sense of loneliness and misunderstanding, sees that he has not lived up to his parents' expectations, suffers from this.

In this case it is important to find spiritual kinship, to find people who will be close and reliable, who will take in their flock. A person can not feel comfortable if he turns out to be shut out of society. As a rule, such people require the support of a psychotherapist, but many cope without it.
