What are sins?

There is a different classification of sins. The only common thing that unites them is the consequences, the eternal condemnation of one who does not repent of what he has done. Let us consider in more detail what kind of sins are and how they differ from each other.

What are the sins in Orthodoxy?

  1. Sins directed against his personality .
  2. Sins against his neighbor.
  3. Sins against the Most High.
  4. Sins manifested in the promises of the sky to avenge all the dead, etc. (for example, manifest themselves in the murder of those who had an abortion).

What are the deadly sins?

There are seven main sinful passions, the classification of which was proposed in the distant 590. Gregory the Great. Mortals call them because the person loses his soul, that is, the death of the latter. As a result, the personality loses its connection with the divine beginning, it is difficult for it to give any spiritual joy. It is important to remember that even in this situation there is salvation - human repentance. So, harmful to the human soul are:

  1. Pride . Its initial stage is manifested in contempt (some people find it humiliating to communicate with others, people of the lower social stratum, etc.). Such a person complies only with his own merits, it is possible that they may be fictitious. At first, she stops talking with her friends, then - with relatives. As a result of such a sin, a person's soul becomes gross, incapable of sincere love, communication.
  2. Envy . It is she who is the basis of many horrendous crimes. To begin with, it is enough to recall the biblical story of Cain and Abel, brothers, one of whom killed the other on the basis of envy .
  3. Gluttony . For such a person there is nothing more important than food. Naturally, it is necessary for us to support life activity, but in reasonable measures. Such a sin awaits those who are inclined to reckless gluttony and those who put food above all else.
  4. Fornication . Various sexual perversions, the consequences of which are most unpredictable, erratic sexual activity - this is precisely what constitutes a sin.
  5. Greed . What are the sins of a person for whom there is nothing higher than material prosperity? Self-interest is the true answer. Both rich and medium-income people are subject to this. He becomes a prisoner of greed when he develops a painful desire to possess certain things.
  6. Anger . Danger is not the anger that is directed against everything sinful, but the one that is against one's neighbor. It manifests itself in insults, obscene lexicon, fights.
  7. Laziness or despondency , which makes itself felt in pessimistic views, complaints, accentuation on their own failures, failed plans.
