El Palmar


El Palmar National Park is located in the Argentine province of Entre Rios, between Colon and Concordia , on the right bank of the Uruguay River. It was created in 1966 to protect the palm groves of Syagrus Yatay.

El Palmar is one of the most visited parks in Argentina , mainly due to its proximity to large tourist centers and developed infrastructure. There is a tour desk where you can get a map of the park, shops, cafes, campsites. On the river Uruguay in a convenient and beautiful place, on a stretch of vegetation and a beach is made.

Flora and fauna of the national park

Initially, the park was created to protect the Yatai palms. However, on its territory there are not only palm groves, but also pastures, gallery forests, marshes. In El Palmar, there are 35 species of mammals: capybars, skunks, ferrets, wild cats, foxes, armadillos, otters, nutria. Ornithofauna of the reserve is also diverse: here you can see nandu, herons, kingfishers, woodpeckers.

In the park there are several reservoirs, in which 33 species of fish live. Here you can see and reptiles (in El Palmar they are home to 32 species), and 18 species of amphibians, and a variety of diverse insects.

How to get to El Palmar?

The National Park operates seven days a week, from 6:00 to 19:00. During religious holidays, opening hours may change, or the park generally closes.

From Kolon, you can get here by car in an hour; You need to follow either RN14 or RN14 and A Parque Nacional El Palmar. From Concordia you can come by the same route, the road will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. From Buenos Aires here leads the way RN14, the journey time is 4 hours 15 minutes, as well as road number 2 and RN14, in this case you will spend about 8 hours in the car.
