History of creation

The history of the rose garden in Bern dates back to the 18th century. However, at that time there was not at all a natural reserve, but a city cemetery, functioning here in 1765-1877. Gradually, the cemetery was abandoned, and the city administration decided to create a landscape reserve on this picturesque stretch of land. Thus, in 1913, and appeared a luxurious rose garden in Bern with its elegant avenues and a pond with fountains in the center.

How to visit?

The most convenient way to get to the rose garden in Bern is by bus routes 10 and 40 from the city train station and to the Rosengarten stop. The garden is open every day, without days off and breaks. In the summer months - the period of flowering roses - in the garden there are a lot of connoisseurs of beauty. But in other months, the landscape reserve Bern is very popular with tourists.
