Folio for pregnant women

The drug Folio used in pregnancy is nothing else than a vitamin complex, the main components of which are folic acid and iodine.

Why do pregnant women need folic acid?

Folic acid belongs to the group of water-soluble vitamins, (the second name is vitamin B9). Partially this substance is synthesized in the intestine of each person, but the bulk comes from outside with food.

Folic acid is actively involved in the synthesis of ribonucleic acids, interchangeable amino acids, and also irreplaceable, such as glycine and methionine.

This substance provides a normal course of the process of protein metabolism in the body, which reduces the likelihood of developmental malformations in the infant.

Why do I need iodine for pregnant women?

As already mentioned above, the composition of the drug Folio, prescribed for pregnant women also includes iodine. This substance is necessary for the normal functioning of the thyroid gland, which takes a direct part in the maturation process of the fetal nervous tissue.

How should I use Folio during pregnancy?

Vitamin Folio for pregnant women should be taken exclusively in the morning, 1 tablet, and on an empty stomach, throughout the period of bearing the fetus. One package contains 150 tablets, which is enough for 5 months.

Quite often, the drug is prescribed at the stage of pregnancy planning, and is taken at least 3 months in a row.

What are the contraindications for taking the drug?

During numerous clinical trials, there were no contraindications to the use of the drug. Occasionally individual intolerance of individual components of the drug was noted. However, before you start taking Folio during pregnancy, it's best to consult a doctor.
