Gram-negative bacteria

As early as 1884, the Danish physician Gram invented a special method of studying the nature of origin and certain characteristics of microorganisms. Its essence consists in staining bacteria with a solution of a special composition.

The main types of gram-negative bacteria

One of the varieties of bacteria that is differentiated by the Gram method is gram-negative microorganisms. The peculiarity of bacteria is that they do not stain violet during the study. Like any other bacteria, they can live in the body for a long time, without manifesting themselves in any way. But to take advantage of the first successful opportunity to start reproduction, gram-negative microorganisms will not fail.

It is important to understand that among the gram-negative bacteria there are those species that will not bring much harm to the body, and those that can lead to death.

There are many kinds of harmful microorganisms. Gram-negative bacteria include:

These microorganisms can provoke problems with breathing, the work of the cardiovascular system and the gastrointestinal tract. In smears of patients, gram-negative anaerobic bacteria can also be found - especially dangerous microorganisms. The most famous representatives of the group:

Treatment of Gram-negative bacteria

Even with those bacteria that do not pose a threat to life, it is necessary to fight. As practice has shown, it is most effective with Gram-negative microorganisms are fighting potent antibiotics. So, for example, the bacterium E Coli and enterococci can be destroyed with ampicillin or amoxicillin. In the treatment of gram-negative bacteria, antibiotics-cephalosporins (some generations in a greater degree, some in a lesser degree) have also proved themselves well.

To select a truly effective treatment is possible only after the precise form of the bacterium that strikes the body has been determined. And the sooner this is done, the better. Often a harmful neighborhood is found only on tests. That is why specialists recommend regular complex examinations.
