Let's start with a simple - with a tablecloth. It must be clean and flawlessly ironed. Cover the table so that the tablecloth hangs about 20-30 centimeters, and under it you can put a soft cloth that will protect the surface (especially wooden) from contamination and blotting, and even muffle the clatter of plates and appliances. A few words about the linen napkins that are accepted to put on the table - if you have an official reception, swipes should be put on the main plate, if you just meet friends - it can lie next to a plate or on a small plate for bread. And one more little detail concerning the tablecloth - at the official reception it is best to use a snow-white tablecloth, and in all other cases - colored, dark red, blue, green, pink. The best option of serving is when the color of the tablecloth is in harmony with the color of napkins, ornaments and services.

We do not forget that your guest should not be disturbed by a table leg or the neighbor's elbow, so we place the dishes at a distance from each other (approximately 40-60 cm). Now we arrange the necessary plates. First, put a small table on the table, and on it - a snack bar. On the right side, put a knife and spoon for soup, and near the spoon we put three knives (for snacks - it will lie farthest, for fish dishes - in the middle and for meat dishes - near the plate). On the left side of the plate we put three forks in exactly the same order as the knives - for snacks, fish dishes and meat. Of course, if you collect close friends or relatives, the number of the device does not necessarily have to be complete, it is quite possible to serve the table with a spoon, knife and fork.

An important detail - forks and spoons put on the table with a convex down side, the knife - with a blade to the plate. This is done so that the devices do not spoil the tablecloth or table.

Also for each guest it is necessary to put a dessert plate, and on it to put a tea napkin. To the right of this plate is placed a dessert knife, and to the left - a dessert fork.

We proceed to glasses and glasses - each guest should have a wine glass, a glass for vodka, a high pile or a glass for water or juice next to the instruments. Wine should be placed on the table only in uncorked bottles with a thoroughly cleaned neck, vodka, cognac and tinctures should be served in decanters, and champagne should be opened only during the feast itself.
