HPV and pregnancy

Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a fairly common viral disease. It appears in the form of small papillomas, in the people - warts that can be located on all parts of the body.

What if HPV was found during pregnancy?

According to statistical data, the papilloma virus is present in the bloodstream in 80% of the inhabitants of the Earth. At the same time, there are no manifestations of its presence. For the appearance of formations, several factors are necessary, the main one being the weakening of the body's immune system. As you know, pregnancy itself is a stress for the body, so HPV manifests itself at this time.

If HPV is detected at the stage of pregnancy planning, then the woman is prescribed treatment with antiviral drugs. When the papillomas appear already during pregnancy, the entire therapeutic process is aimed at maintaining the protective forces of the woman's body. Directly treatment of the virus begins no earlier than 28 weeks.

What to do to prevent the appearance of the virus during pregnancy?

Most women who face HPV during pregnancy simply do not know what to do and how it affects the bearing of a child.

In order not to fall into this situation, every woman who had previously had papillomas on her body, before the pregnancy planning, must pass the test for HPV and other viruses. However, not all girls do this. just do not know what is dangerous for HPV in pregnancy.

The fact is that individual strains of the virus are oncogenic by nature, 16,18,31,33,35. It is these varieties of the virus that lead to the development of genital warts on the surface of the uterine neck. Therefore, when they are detected in a pregnant woman, it is observed until the time of delivery.

How is HPV treated?

In cases where condylomata and papilloma are located outside the birth canal, the virus poses no danger to the child. In the opposite case , a woman is recommended a cesarean section to prevent the virus from transmitting to the baby.

As already mentioned above, treatment of HPV during pregnancy begins no earlier than 28 weeks. Therefore, it is best for a woman, at the stage of pregnancy planning, to undergo a course of treatment. In this case, antiviral drugs are prescribed.

Only after the course of HPV treatment, a woman can safely plan a pregnancy. However, it is not superfluous to take the analysis again.
