Labuk Bay

In the Malaysian province of Sabah on the coast of the bay is a private nursery Labuk Bay (Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary). It is famous for the fact that rare monkeys-noses live here.

Description of the park

For primates, natural habitats were created with mangrove forests, water reservoirs (noses are very fond of swimming and splashing) and various trees. They live on an isolated stretch between the sea and the oil landscapes. Initially, monkeys attacked buildings and workers' houses, interfered with people's lives. The problem was solved easily: they simply left part of the jungle for them and began to feed them.

This factor contributed to the reproduction and conservation of monkey-noses. They are also called Proboskis (Nasalis larvatus) or Kahau, and the locals speak of monyet belanda (Dutch monkey) animals. This has gone from the time of the colonialists, when the aborigines noticed how similar the invaders with the primates.

This species of monkeys is considered to be dying out, they are listed in the International Red Book. Labuk Bay is a private tourist center, designed to attract tourists and familiarize them with the behavior of animals. Kennel is the only one in the world where you can get to know the life of the nosach.

Here live about 300 individuals of primates, which are best viewed by visitors during feeding. This process is quite interesting, runs 4 times a day (at 09:30, 11:30, 14:30, 16:30) and has certain rules:

After feeding the primates run across the territory of the institution, so seeing them will not be so easy.
