Lampshade from threads with own hands

Today, the eco style is in fashion. This applies to lifestyle, nutrition, materials. Even furniture and clothes today can be purchased from pure materials. This is a very good choice for health, but not for the wallet. No less popular are the decor items in ekostyle. The filament lampshade can be found today in almost every specialized store. This decor is very impressive, and it's very simple to make a lampshade from threads with your own hands.

How to make a lampshade out of thread?

The manufacturing process is technologically very simple and does not take much time. Before you decide to make a lampshade out of thread, think about its future size and color. Consider a small step-by-step master-class, how you can make a luminaire of threads:

  1. To make it, you will need a regular inflatable ball (its size should not be less than 40 cm, and choose any form at your discretion), PVA glue or other starch-based glue, wire and the necessary lighting fixture.
  2. We inflate the ball to the maximum size and tighten it. Very good, if the ball has a round shape. Keep in mind that the shape of your shade is directly dependent on the shape of the ball. When buying, pay attention to it.
  3. We wet the threads in PVA glue or in a glutinous solution based on starch. What kind of thread is suitable for making a lamp shade? It is best to take as thick as possible cotton in any color. If you do not have time to buy glue or just want to make a completely environmentally friendly lampshade, you can prepare a special mixture. To do this, boil the starch and put the yarn there, so that it is properly soaked.
  4. Now draw on the ball a small circle, where in the future will be attached to the lamp holder. At this point, you do not need to glue the yarn. To ensure that the threads do not stick to the ball after the starch impregnation during the drying process, it must be greased with grease or petroleum jelly
  5. You can go another way - apply glue to the threads after they are wrapped around the ball. For this, a foam sponge can be used. The working surface must first be covered with a waterproof cloth or oilcloth.
  6. Now you can start wrapping the ball in any chaotic order. After that, the luminaire must be dried out within a day.
  7. Try to distribute the thread as evenly as possible. Do not try to create an artwork from them, for the first time, evenly enough to coat the layers on the surface of the ball. It is very important to stretch the thread evenly on the ball and strongly enough, without deforming its shape.
  8. Twist the thread until you make five uniform layers. The luminaire must be very dense. It is enough to leave only small gaps through which light will pierce.
  9. If you used a ball, it's enough to just burst and remove it from the lampshade. The ball is perfectly round in shape and it is more convenient to use it in this way, to blow it off and pull it out at the end.
  10. Next, install a cartridge with a light bulb and attach it to the place. In the hole you need to insert the reinforcement and fix it. This can be done with the help of brushes. In the armature screw the bunting and fix everything in this way: wrap around the wire a few thin brushes, pass inside the sphere and straighten it. Then you need to adjust the length of the wire so that the lighting is exactly in the center of the lampshade. Now we simply attach the construction to the ceiling hook and enjoy our creation.
  11. To make a beautiful lampshade from the threads with your own hands, you need to carefully choose the shape of the ball or ball. If you want to make a bright lighting decor, wrap one layer of the main color, and then add strings of bright colorful hues.
